MACAU AND ZHUHAI BLUE SEASHORE

CONCEPTUAL PROPOSAL

Facing with limited useable land, expansion of population, high demands of different types of infrastructures and facilities, a practical suggestion is to reclaim the sea in the south part of Macau. The use of the proposed reclaimed land includes a more well-rounded development in residential, recreational, cultural and public zones. We argue these facilities will cater the needs of not only the local citizens but also employees and professional from overseas who want to work and settle in Macau.

In order to facilitate the flow of people and goods, our proposal will extend the cross-sea bridge project linking up Hong Kong, Macau with a road link which will facilitate the connectivity of the deep water port further south which can accommodate the docking of international cruise ships and container port. The bases for this road link will also serve as a filtering system that will beautify the Macau water environment which will attract a wider range of sea life.

We foresee that all these changes can diversify and bring economic, social and cultural wealth to Macau that will not only benefit the locals but also attract more tourists to come. The infrastructure can enhance and encourage the inter-cultural, economic, and social exchange with Hong Kong and Zhuhai. This proposal, if materialized, will help Macau to keep pace with the rapid development in HK and China where it has become an integral part.
